A senior veteran Supreme Court lawyer called me a little late at night. Seeing his call at that point of time, I replied with concern worrying… He was quite agitated and stated with a question, “What is vulgar, Doctor?” I was baffled. He was known to be quite polite and courteous other times. Such a question so late at night! I asked him. He was still agitated, “Tell me Doctor, what is vulgar? Is working hard vulgar? Is honestly contributing 40 per cent of the income to the nation’s Income Tax vulgar? Is doing MBA, engineering in IIT vulgar? After many years of struggle honestly building up a profit making company that can give stake holders excellent returns vulgar? Or, without contributing much to the nation’s income, keeping on self-pitying as ‘me victim of majority’ demanding money to jobs and educational seats to bank loans almost free vulgar? Isn’t producing unlimited number of children in the name of religion and expecting nation’s honest tax payers to sponsor their lives vulgar?”
By this time my sleep had vanished and I was in utter shock. Not at what he was saying but the way he was agitated. Next day I met many people from many professions and all of them were equally agitated and angry with a Union Minister terming their hard work, their professional skills and money earned professionally –vulgar. What was that comment and by whom?
“CEOs of the companies get vulgar salaries. Vulgarity is nobody’s fundamental right in this country.” This was the comment made by Union Minister of Bharat (He will not like to hear it as Bharat, he may even say it is vulgar!) for Corporate Affairs Salman Khurshid.
Perhaps he had just visited M F Hussein in some Arabic Islamic countries wherever he has run away to painting Hindu Goddesses like Durga and Bharatmata nude. (A veteran artist told me that Hussein painted Durga and Hussein painted Bharatmata actually look the same though they were painted different times!) Perhaps Khurshid took his lessons on vulgarity from Hussein. But I am wrong. Khurshids, Hussains, Barak Hussein Obamas do not need lessons on vulgarity from anyone! 1400 years they have been inheriting it.
Some months back America’s President Barak Hussein Obama said exactly the same and expected company CEOs to cut their salaries. There is no doubt that when there is a global economic recession with which even Bharat has been a bit affected (PM said, “Bharat was not affected!”) everyone, including the corporates, professionals and all others should do their bit to sail through the crisis together. What is important it “together”. But here is a union minister calling corporate CEOs salaries vulgar! He could never see how much together these corporates and professionals have contributed to the nation’s development!
Union Government collects approx 4,00,000 Crore tax every year and 75 per cent of it is contributed by corporates and professionals, Khurshid calls this money vulgar! CEOs and professionals contribute the highest to Income Tax Mr Khurshid! 40 per cent of their salaries is cut by the government at source. Remaining 60 per cent: Is it really available to the CEO for expenditure? No. When he pays the electricity bill, he has to pay extra service tax. Same with telephone bill, petrol bill and what not.
The salaries paid to anyone in the public limited companies are already approved by shareholders and they are a part of annual report of the company which is sent to all shareholders. Issue is that, CEOs salaries are a public knowledge; is the same case with Salman Khurshid? Why is Khurshid jealous of hardworking CEOs? Is he really concerned of the poor in this country who do not get even a meal a day? Does he know that Rs 60 per kg onion hurts the poor and not taking note of it is Vulgar, Mr. Khurshid!
Mr. Khurshid is not concerned for the poor. If he were, he would have cancelled at least one of his richly spread Iftar parties! He purposely calls honestly earned CEO salary vulgar. When Bharat got Independence, his community’s population was mere seven to eight per cent. Now it is over 15 per cent and in some states after doing ethnic cleansing of Hindus like in J&K, it is higher. They do not stop at two children as required for the nation’s progress. They use their religion as an excuse to produce unlimited number of children because they know that they have Khurshids and Ahmeds and Shakeels to justify that while terming CEO salaries vulgar!
Mr. Khurshid, producing unlimited number of children and putting their load on the nation’s tax payers (= nation’s economy) is vulger! Not getting own community to stop such anti development unlimited children production is vulgar. Not contributing to nation’s economic development and on the other hand eating up all developmental and economic benefits like pests is vulgar.
On the other hand, it is a known fact that most corporates not only directly contribute to nation’s economic development by direct tax, sales tax, income tax and various duties that government levies on them. Other than this their employees pay income tax. Large companies also generate employment not only for MBAs and IITians but also for skilled and unskilled labourers. This obviously reduces the burden on the nation’s economy and also increases spending capacity of a larger number of people. This in turn grows other allied industries like FMCGs (Fast moving consumer goods) consumer electronics, retail, media and entertainment etc.
Yes, I know, many will say, Dr Togadia, we know this basic economics. True; but Bharat’s corporate affair minister does not know this basic economics. He throws some fuzzy math on the face of the nation and calls hard earned corporate money vulgar! While saying this he purposely ignored the excellent and vast social development work done and being done by many corporates that has improved living conditions of millions of socially and physically underdeveloped people. Be it charity hospitals, tribal schools, orphanages, helping physically and mentally challenged, creating self help groups for village women…The list of corporate contribution projects is unending. Unless CEOs wish to do them, these projects do not happen. Yet Mr. Khurshid has an audacity to term their money vulgar!
Mr. Khurshid did not stop at that; he gave a sermon to Bharat “Vulgarity is nobody’s right in this nation.” Mr. Khurshid, you have no right to sermon Bharat about fundamental rights! Those who do not recognise Bharat’s Constitution, those who follow their own law created by those who do not believe in anyone else’s right even to exist and whose religious book orders them to kill all those who are not of that religion, have no right to sermon others about Fundamental Rights, Mr. Khurshid. Doing so is itself vulgar because it insults, humiliates and hurts the most important Fundamental Right given to all in Bharat by the Constitution and that is freedom of profession (and also freedom of property). Explain, Mr. Khurshid first the vulgar ways by which Hindu properties are being snatched in Kashmir, Assam and many parts of UP, Kerala, Andhra even now.
It is not as simple and one off as it sounds. This is a larger conspiracy of the larger group that Khurshid belongs to. Some months back Barak Hussein Obama questions CEO salaries, threatens to kick out Indians from the US, then almost tries to shut BPOs in Bharat, similar time billions of Petro-dollars from middle east are put in Bharat’s stock markets taking it up and then crashing it after making money for Jehad, immediately after that the Jehadi attack on Mumbai (not to mention thousands of other attacks in Kashmir, Assam, Delhi, Bengaluru, Jaipur…).. and now Mr. Khurshid terming CEO salaries vulgar! All these are a part of a larger conspiracy which we all must see through before it is too late. Today he called CEO salaries vulgar; tomorrow he would term professionals like lawyers, CAs, engineers, doctors, media men, entertainers’ hard work as criminal and their honest remuneration vulgar! It is high time that Bharat stands up behind corporates and professionals as such Khurshids, Obamas, Ahmeds will not stop at this. They are already snatching majority children’s merit seats through reservations, they are already pocketing plum government jobs and critical places in the police and army on the name of religion and they are already aiming for free bank loans (bank money which come from corporates and professionals) and this is vulgar!
It is time for Bharat to wake up and ask questions through RTI and through votes about how much income tax was paid by such unlimited children producing machines and how much of honest tax paying majority’s money they gobbled up for their reservations and other benefits? How much was given to Aligarh Muslim University and from where the money came? Where did the 15 per cent Jaqat go which is compulsorily paid by each Khurshid, Ahmed and Shakil to their mosques? Why wasn’t that money used for their development? Why CEO tax money? Why professional’s tax money for them? This discrimination is vulgar.
The agitated Supreme Court Lawyer who had called me at night was planning to send an English dictionary to Mr. Khurshid to check the meaning of vulgar as his corporate client was planning to file a defamation suit! The Oxford dictionary says: Vulgar: 1. lacking sophistication, taste. 2. Referring to sex or bodily functions in a rude or inappropriate way. On both counts, it is not CEO salaries that are vulgar, Mr. Khurshid, your conspiracy to unsettle Bharat’s economy is vulgar.
