Daxinbang unit of Samskrit Bharati organised ten-day Sanskrit Sambhashan Vargas at ten different places in Kolkata from July 16 to 26. About 200 persons including students, teachers and people from almost every section of the society attended the classes, which were conducted for two hours everyday from 6pm to 8 pm.
The concluding ceremony was organised at Burrabazar Library Hall on July 26. Shri Dinesh Kamath, national organising secretary of Samskrit Bharati delivered the keynote address. He said, “Sanskrit was the mother of all Indian languages and 80 per cent words of the Bengali and other languages originated from Sanskrit.” He said if we want to know the real culture of the country, we must know Sanskrit.
Sri Nripendra Prasanna Acharya, an NRI and retired engineer from America, was chief guest. “Sanskrit means good samskar which is compulsory for every human being and it might be done through Sanskrit. If we want to imbibe full teachings of the Ramayana we will have to learn Sanskrit,” he said. Shri Bandhugourav Brahmachari presided over the function. He said once Sanskrit was the spoken language all over India, which we find in the life of Sri Chaitanya and Adi Shankaracharya. If we ignore the Sanskrit, we shall be out from our Indian history and the soul of India. Shri Pranab Nanda, organising secretary of Daxinbang Prant conducted the proceedings. The students of Adyapeeth Manikuntala Balika Vidyalaya presented the Bharatnatyam dance with devotional songs.
