This is the time for victory of nationalistic education imparted by the Saraswati Vidya Mandirs(SVM) run by Vidya Bharati in Orissa. These schools based on Indian culture and heritage have performed exceptionally well with 44 students in the merit list, out of 102 . As many as 16 (out of 29 students) of the top 10 ranks are from Saraswati Vidya Mandirs.This is the result of the annual High School Certificate Examinations, 2009 which has added wings to the reputation of Vidya Bharati run schools in the State.
Shri Bibek Bishal Mehena from Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Rourkela secured the top rank, Shri Sanket Dash of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir in Berhampur town and Ansuman Tripathy of Saraswati Vidya Mandir of Bolangir secured the second and third positions respectively. Last year too, these Vidya Bharati run schools had done well with 15 of its students securing top-20 positions. Trends over the past six years have shown that SVMs generally do better than other schools in the State. These days, an estimated number of 11,000 acharyas (teachers) are teaching 1.8 lakh students in 739 SVMs across the State. As a result of their relentless efforts, the SVMs are flourishing in the academic sphere of the State. “Though the teachers of SVMs get lower salaries than their counterparts in government-run high schools, no one can beat them when it comes to dedication towards their students. For them teaching is a mission,” said Shri Pitabas Mehena, father of this year’s topper in the HSC examination.” In our school, each student has to appear in at least seven examinations in every academic year, out of these, five are being conducted monthly, one half-yearly and one annual examination.” Said Bibek who has secured top position in the merit list. According to Vidya Bharati sources about 6,500-odd SVM students appeared in the HSC examination out of whom about 4,500 secured first division this year.
According to Shri Govinda Chandra Mohanta, State organising Secretaty of Vidya Bharati, the following successful students have brought the victory for SVMs this year. They are, Bidyasabitry Nayak of Lunahar Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir in Salipur who stood third in the toppers list by securing 572 marks while Satwik Routray secured 571 from the same school.
Others, who found place in best 100 students from SVM includes, Anjan Kumar Tripathy (570) of Balangir SSVM, Rosaline Sahoo(569) of Nalco Nagar SVM, AP Padhi(569) of Unit-8 SVM, Bijay Laxmi Parida(568) of Rourkela-2 SVM.
Similarly, Abhisek Das(568) of College Square SVM, S. Parida(567) of Nayagarh SVM, Amit Kumar Pradhani(566) of Jeypore SVM have found place amoung best 100 students.
Followed by Kalpataru Palai(565) of Dhanupalli SVM, Abhijit Joshi(565) of Patnagarh SVM, Adesh Kumar Mishra(564) of Balangiri SVM also shined in the examinations.
Similarly, Anwesh Parida(564) of Salipur SVM, Sabhasachi Baliarsingh(564) of Nayagarh SVM, Shibashis Mohapatra(563) of Damanjodi SVM also found places in 100 best.
Abinash Swain(563) of Manjari Road SVM in Bhadrak, Biswajit Samanta(563) of Barmunda SVM, Debasis Sahu (563) of Nayapalli SVM, Suman Kar(562) of Sohela SVM, M. Acharya(562) of Balangir SVM, S Nayak( 562) of Ramaharinagar SVM also found places in best 100 students. Besides, Sunena Nayak( 562) of Bhadrak SVM, Sunil Kumar Pahadasingh(562) of Khurda SVM, J Jaypuria(561) of Banharpali SVM, Bibek Prusty(561) of Keonjhargarh SVM, R Lopamudra Sahoo(561) of Harachandisahi SVM, A Majhisamanta(561) of Nayapalli SVM, N Dash(560) of Puri-1 SVM, J Sarangi(560) of Pipili SVM, S Panda(560) of Nayapalli SVM, Ipsita Swain(559) of Badagada SVM, A Dash(559) of Nayapalli SVM, Payal Sahu(558) of Dhanupalli SVM, S Agasty(558) of Patanagarh SVM have able to register their names in best 100. Similarly, P Paik(558) of Parlakhemundi SVM, SS Mishra(558) of Neelakantha Nagar SVM, Arpita Malla(558) of Santasahi SVM in Kendrapara, M Dash(558) of Barmunda SVM, D Dash(558) of Badagada SVM and Poonam Mahapatra(558) of Nayapalli SVM have also done well in the examinations.
The pass rate of Vidya Bharati students has increased to 97.25 per cent this year which can be termed as victory in silence.
Orphan girl got First Division : Wants to be a doctor
Nothing is impossible for a determinant soul. This has been proved from the HSC examination results. One orphan girl belonging from the Vanvasi community has got first division securing about 80 per cent of marks. Meet Pankajini Ho, a girl from Mayurbhanj district of the State. Pankajini lost her parents at the age of three years and was brought to Jashoda Sadan Balashram, Cuttack. This Balashram was established in 1999 after the devastating super cyclone, in order to accommodate the cyclone affected kids. Pankajini joined in the first batch of inmates. This year she appeared in the annual High School Certificate Examination from Saraswati Vidya Mandir (SVM), College Chhak Cuttack. Similarly other three inmates of Jashoda Sadan , namely Rasmita Nayak, Sunanda Pradhan and Jayaparakash have successfully passed in the examination. Expressing her feeling, Pankajini says “ I want to be a doctor. All the credits of my success will go to my teachers and my Jashoda Sadan.” On the other hand Shri Sangram Keshari Patra, the secretary of Balashram expressed their determination to fulfil the dream of Pankajini and others by providing them higher education.
