Chartered Accountants Cell of BJP Appoint a Nodal Agency to bring back black money – Arun Shourie

Chartered Accountants Cell of the BJP along with Commodity Participants and the Depositary Participants Associations of India organised a seminar, Exposing Nexus of Corruption, Swiss Banks and Tax Havens, in Delhi at Shri Satya Sai Auditorium. Shri Arun Shourie, former Cabinet Minister and Shri Sudheendra Kulkarni, BJP's political strategist were the key speakers.

National Convener of the BJP CA Cell Shri Gopal K Agarwal in his introductory remark'shighlighted the importance and modalities to bring back the Indian money lying in Swiss Banks. He further said that this Cell has conducted many programmes on various aspects of economy whether it is the roadmap for economic development or knowledge economy as growth propellant for the country. It has also organised national conventions, seminars etc. and have been able to appoint State conveners in more than 15 states, who are working in their respective areas in similar way. This cell is providing platform to professionals to express their views and contribute to the social cause.

Shri Arun Shourie, explained in detail how black money in India is generated and thereafter transferred to Swiss Banks. He also explained that if this money will come to India, the fortune of India would turnaround. He said that the strategy to bring back this money will need a determined effort based on following steps. Firstly we need to understand that public pressure works and CA'shave a very important role in the work of this magnitude. Secondly government must release the names of all the 50 persons who are involved in this black money episode, which as per India Today is available with the government. Thirdly ask government to appoint a Nodal Agency and set up a commission with specific task to bring this money back. Fourthly government needs to pursue this matter through bilateral and multilateral agreements with various countries. And finally, individual as well as government efforts are to be made in alignment with foreign organisations and institutions to fight corruption etc.

Shri Sudheendra Kulkarni, spoke on the CBI and its role in Quottrochi matter and how government is misusing CBI to fulfill its corrupt purposes.

A ?concept paper? covering various aspect of the subject was also released at this seminar. A Committee was also set up for this, comprising of CA Anil Sharma as Convener, CA Anil Gupta, CA Avneesh Matta as member and CA Gopal K. Agarwal as its chairman.

Presidents of Commodity Participants Association of India and Depository Participants Association of India. Shri NC Maheshwari and Shri RC Maheshwari were also present at the seminar. CA Sunil Vashisht gave the welcome address and the seminar ended with a vote of thanks by CA Gopal Kedia. CA Anil Gupta and CA Anil Sharma also expressed their views. (FOC)
