Karnataka Rajya Madhyamik Shaikshik Sangh, affiliated to Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh, honoured school toppers in Bangalore on August 24. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of Art of Living was the chief guest. Minister of Secondary Education in Karnataka Shri VH Kageri was the guest of honour. Shri K. Balakrishna Bhatt, state president of the Sangh presided over the function. More than 300 students, 50 teachers, 30 students from sports field and 20 students from the field of arts were felicitated at the function.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar advised the students to take the academic oath without fear but with interest and commitment. ?Education is worship and every act of worship has its own fruit to yield at the end. The people in India, more so of Karnataka, are known for their soft-spokenness. Patriotism is innate in their blood. Selflessness is imbibed in them. We are an embodiment of sacrifice. It is through sacrifice that we achieved our Independence. We are not violent. Let us spread a peaceful revolution, without tolerating injustice. Let us not resort to criminal means. Let us have an ideological revolution,? he said.

He further said India is climbing the ladder of progress at all fronts and has an edge over several nations, which is not tolerated by progressive countries like America where India is painted in the most heinous way. Textbooks are replete with mocking references to Indian practices and customs. Indian gods and goddesses are projected in the foulest manner. The tragedy is that the communistic bent of persons in India not only supports it but also rejoices at it. It is very painful.

He appealed to the teachers to update their knowledge through workshops and seminars. We have to train our children to be mentally, physically and morally strong. We have to compete with China on these fronts. Children should avoid junk food and eat more healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables, because for want of healthy food, our thinking process suffers, he added.
