If the Indian intelligentsia and media men, especially Hindus, don'twake-up and act swiftly even in this extraordinary, emergency like situation, they are sure to be killed or enslaved by a Taliban like Islamic regime for another one thousand years. Their fate will be worse than it was during the Mughal raj. Christians and rational Muslims, especially their women folk will also have the same fate. A Sunni Muslim ruling society, as in Pakistan, which does not tolerate its own co-religionists, ( Shias & Ahmediyas), cannot be expected to tolerate people of a different faith, (Christians, Hindus, Sikhs or Bouddhs), except as slaves. One way could be to force the present government to abdicate in favour of a non-party national government under the army chief, who may take over as Prime Minister and form his Council of Ministers from the open field, by taking honest, industrious and capable persons from every source ? Armed Forces, All India Services, Police forces and even private entrepreneurs. The administration should be of a kind that will infuse fear into the spines of the terrorists or their harbingers, fearlessness among the honest, the law abiding citizens to move freely; and will annihilate enemies of India, internal or external. In place of today'sParliament, there can be a national advisory council composed of experts from various fields and representatives of various classes, like industrialists, businessmen, farmers, teachers, workers, distinguished retired military and civil servants. The army chief should be given a mandate to eliminate terrorism with the utmost speed, prepare the country for a new Constitution, providing for a two or at the most three party parliamentary or presidential form of government in a period of say 10-15 years. Briefly, he should do what French General Charles de Gaulle did in the 1950s to redeem France from its political anarchy in the post World War II situation.

In short, situation in India is much worse than in Italy of 1960s and warrants a more drastic remedy.
