Mamun Mia is not the last man to be named in the list of suspected ISI activists in Tripura. The arrest of one of his successors proves that the matter needs to be taken into serious consideration. Because, the anti-India forces are using the land of Tripura for unholy purposes and the presence of their agents is not only a bad omen but also a clear threat to the sovereignty of the nation. So far a silent spectator, the Union Home Minister, has ample scopes to play important role to protect the people of an extreme part of the country, what also the time demands.
At the deep night on March 27, the CID officials from West Bengal nabbed the Bangladeshi national Mamun Mia alias Suman Mazumdar from a rented house in Agartala. A member of Harkat Ul Jihad al Islami of Bangladesh (HUJI) Mamun had close relations with Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. Within a gap of less than three months, another suspected Bangladeshi young man was arrested in this state who is also seen as an agent of ISI. He is Sagam Ali. On duty Jawans of Border Security Force (BSF) detained him from Bhagalpur near Indo-Bangladesh border after long observation of his doubtful movement. They thought him a simple infiltrator like many others and handed over to Agartala Airport Police Station.
But, the fact came out when police officials found him giving self-contradictory statements during interrogation. Then, curious police searched his belongings and recovered SIM cards of Gramin Phone of Bangladesh, Airtel, Aircel and Reliance, all active. An international passport issued on January 24, 2007 from Guwahati that he carried with him shows that he visited Pakistan in February-March 2007. According to Passport information, Sagam Ali entered into Pakistan through Amritsar border on February 27 and returned on March 24 through Wagha border.
Not only Pakistan, Sagam Ali went to Bangladesh three times in between 2007 and 2008 through Akhaura border in Agartala.
Alongwith passport, police also recovered an identity card from the custody of Sagam. Though both the documents were having uniform photograph affixed but name and father'sname were different. Like, in the passport it was Sagam Ali, s/o, Alam Mia and in I-card it was Syed Ali s/o Md. Sambat Ali. The identity card was issued by hardcore communal Islamic organisation of Bangladesh Hajrat Shah Sultan Giasuddin Aulia widely known as HAJO. A faxed paper hidden in a metal box possibly, a Kabach, sent to him by someone Osman from TV station area of Karachi in Pakistan also taken into custody by airport police. This Osman is seemed to be ISI functionary keeping contact with Sagam.
Visibly serious police officers are now trying to suck out information regarding his probable links and aides that he already had made here and outside the state besides future plans he was entrusted to implement.
