BJP's victory a trendsetter for general elections: Rajnath Singh

Bharatiya Janata Party president Shri Rajnath Singh said that the party'svictory in the Karnataka Assembly election has propelled the party into the position of a ?front runner? in the next Lok Sabha elections.

?The door has opened for the BJP in the South. The BJP'sgeographical spread now covers East and West, North and South,? he told immediately after the announcement of the election results in Karnataka.

?The party will now have its own governments in seven states while it is a partner in the ruling coalition in another five states, making us the biggest party in the country,? Shri Singh said.

Thanking voters in Karnataka for giving BJP the mandate to rule, Shri Rajnath Singh said the party had raised its political stature above Congress for the first time, adding it can no more be called a party of North India.

Claiming BJP was now the biggest political party in the country, he congratulated party leaders and activists in Karnataka for the favourable results.

Expressing confidence that the BJP would win an absolute majority, he said Karnataka Assembly election results were a milestone in party'shistory.

?Karnataka results show that the BJP'svictory will continue right up to the general elections, including in the Assembly elections to be held in Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan later this year,? Shri Singh said.
