“We have two countries within our country. One is ?India? created by the Britishers and represented by the so-called English-educated people. The second is ?Bharat? represented by the people living mostly in villages, who have contributed greatly in preserving our traditional ethos. Unfortunately, even after Independence ?India? could not become ?Bharat?. Fact is that ?India? is not ?Bharat? and ?Bharat? is Bharat. The writings of Dharmpalji prove this,? said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri K.S. Sudarshan, while releasing the Hindi translation of Dharmpal Samagra in New Delhi on December 21.

The function was organised by Delhi unit of Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad at Hindi Bhawan. The Samagra has been published by Punrutthan Trust of Ahmedabad. It was originally published in English and later it was translated into Gujarati. The ten-volume Samagra provides deep insight into glorious cultural history of the 18th and 19th century Bharat. The 2808-page complete set of ten volumes has been priced at Rs 2000.

Shri Sudarshan further said since the Samagra was in English a majority of countrymen could not read it. The late Dharmpalji also himself desired translation of the Samagra into various Indian languages. He was very happy when it was first translated into Gujarati. Shri Sudarshan said the English-educated people still feel what India has today has been provided by the West and without following the West it cannot make progress. He said the civilisation that the West has developed wishes to dominate all. Its four foundations?struggle for existence, survival of the fittest, exploitation of nature and individual'sright have proved wrong. He said after independence ?India? remained ?India? and ?Bharat? could not get prominence. Though Gandhiji wanted a village-centric model of development, Pt. Nehru concentrated on cities. This is the reason we see huge imbalance in almost every field today.

Referring to the much-publicised prosperity and development in China, Shri Sudarshan said the situation there is very critical. ?Cities in China have witnessed good development but the situation in villages is very gloomy. There is extreme poverty in rural areas. Very inhuman treatment is meted out to the labourers. The so-called development there is nothing but a lie. Unfortunately, our policymakers also wish to bring the same situation in our country. The centralised, high energy consuming and eco-destructive model of the West does not suit to our country at all,? he added.

Sarsanghachalak said Naxalism is also the product of the West. An AK 47 costs between Rs five and seven lakh. The people who provide money for these sophisticated weapons do not understand that a large number of villages can be developed and provided with adequate employment to the village youth by this amount now being wasted on destructive activities. What they know is destruction and not reconstruction. He pointed out that the country could not win the war of 1962 because the army was not equipped with sophisticated weapons as it is today and Pt. Nehru wanted to even dissolve the army after Independence.

?Dharmpalji was among the people who deeply understood the problems of the country. After deeper and authentic research he proved that India was rich in every field and wealth was the only reason behind all invasions on us. He inspired so many people to continue their research. Shri Ramgopal Mishra is one of them who has authored a book that informs how bravely the Indians fought against the invasions by Muslims. The history of 570 years from 636 to 1206 has been presented in his book very appropriately. Dharmpalji wanted the countrymen to recognise their strength and identity. Till we do not recognise our strength we cannot dream of a bright future. The Indian scientists are conducting research on the knowledge provided by Dharmpalji in his book on glorious scientific past of the country and those old formulas are proving correct now. Dharmpalji worked like a purodha. The best tribute to him will be that we all should read his literature and pressurise the government to teach our children only the glorious history,? he added.

Presiding over the function, Prof. Samdong Rimponche, Prime Minister of Tibetan Government in Exile, said the modern educated people have lost the capability to understand their culture and identity. But Dharmpalji was among those few people who even after getting modern education understood their glorious culture, traditions and history in right perspective. He said China has also hatched the same conspiracy in Tibet as was hatched by the Britishers in India. Now China wants the Tibetans to forget their history and the Dalai Lama should admit that Tibet has always been a part of China. ?We cannot accept this lie. The history cannot be rewritten. We are ready to become a part of China in future but we cannot belie the fact that Tibet was invaded by China. By changing the history China now wants to justify its conspiracy in Tibet. After seeing this conspiracy we have now understood why the British changed the history of India,? he said further adding that India can lead the world only after the Indians realise their glorious past and prepare themselves for this gigantic responsibility.

Earlier introducing the Samagra, Smt. Indumati Katdare, secretary of Punrutthan Trust, said the Samagra is very useful not only for the academic people and research scholars but also for the common man.  By Pramod Kumar
