The reported advice of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to the universities to become ?money earners? for their sustenance without looking for government funds has drawn flak at the two-day state executive meeting of ABVP, which concluded in Tirupati on July 2, with All India vice-president Murali Manohar delivering the valedictory address. The meet in its resolution on ?education? described the Chief Minister'sadvice to the varsities as ?irresponsible? and said that it betrayed the government'sintention to escape from its fundamental duty of providing education to its people. The meet regretted that the entire education sector in the State was caught ?irretrievably? under the clutches of the private and corporate educational institutions and cited in this connection the recent remarks of the Supreme Court that 90 per cent of the degree colleges in the State lack even the basic infrastructure. State president and secretary of the ABVP Shri T. Penchalaiah and Arunkumar, zonal secretary Shri Mantri Srinivas were also among the speakers.  (FOC)
