This is a thin booklet dedicated to Shri Guruji'smemory on his birth centenary year. Shri Guruji travelled all over the country for 33 years, to convey his views to the people on different issues, particularly those pertaining to the nation. His pertinent advice to journalists on the path to adopt on various problems of national life and national development are a source of encouragement even today to all is followers and believers.

In a nation'ssocial life, newspapers and journalists occupy a prominent place. In the field of journalism Guruji expressed his views freely through his philosophy and hence it is a commendable effort of the author to present a small compendium on journalism on his birth anniversary.

In the changing times and with growth in the medium of communication, journalism has covered a long and commendable journey. Today journalism is at such a peak from where it can influence life, thoughts and behaviour of not only the public but of the leaders too. In fact, the media can play a powerful role in transforming and establishing our lifestyles. But today, journalism despite touching great heights, needs to ponder and question itself if it is the right path that it has chosen.

The author says that the role of journalistic writing is similar to the role played by Narad during ancient times. Here he cites the instance when the erstwhile Governor Vishwanath Prasad Das of Uttar Pradesh sent a letter to Hindusthan Samachar saying that Narad should be considered the first and foremost journalist of the world as he used to wander all over the three worlds?the heaven, the earth and hell, and spread news of one place to another. His style of spreading news was even considered inflammatory at times, but the prime objective of his act was essentially the welfare of the people.

The author agrees the beauty of the language is an important feature of journalism, but the style of presentation is more important as it enhances the style of expression.

In this book stress is laid on certain points integral to journalism.

Journalism should be based on nothing but the truth. Guru Golwalkar advised Shri V.J. Dharpure, who was about to start a new monthly magazine, that though the magazine should provide entertainment but its should fearlessly speak the truth alone and not use words that cause pain or hurt the sentiments of somebody. ?Views should be expressed only in sweet and memorable words as was the message of our sage, ascetics, gurus and others,? said Guruji.

This book, presents very succinctly a very broad perspective on the role of journalism and journalists in the growth of the nation and the society.
