Shoulder to shoulder with the entire ?Vishwah? which is celebrating the birth centenary of Shri Guruji, who carried the message of Hindu Unity and RSS to every corner of the world, Kerala, where Sangh work started in early forties, by an immortal Dattopant Thengadi and which has produced war-horses of Pracharaks like K. Bhaskar Rao, Ranga Hari, R. Venugopal, P. Madhavan and P. Parameswaran, celebrated the centenary with three major programmes?Rashtra Raksha Sanchalan, International Seminar on Cultural Nationalism and Hindu Maha Sammelans.

The Rashtra Raksha Sanchalan was a unique ?Ghosh? march from the northernmost tip of Kerala to the heart of the capital city, Thiruvananthapuram. Around 6,000 ?Ghosh Vadaks? started their march from ?Bekal Fort? in Kannur on January 5, 2006 and reached ?East Fort? in Thiruvananthapuram on January 25. The 700 kms march with the slogan of Thasmat Jagratha Jagratha was really a march into history. All the historic places connected with our struggle against the alien rule were visited and freedom fighters honoured. Twenty two rallies with participation of lakhs were held enroute. As a grand finale, a huge march and rally was held at the University Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, on January 26 in which Sarkaryavah Shri Mohan Bhagwat participated. The rally was attended by over a lakh of Sangh admirers. Earlier National flag was also hoisted by the Sarkaryavah. A total of 25-30 lakh people had attended the various mass rallies en route and the Sanchalan was witnessed by an estimated 50 lakh people.

An International Seminar on Cultural Nationalism was held at Kanakakunnu Palace in Thiruvananthapuram from September 23rd to 24th, 2006. Sarsanghachalak K.S. Sudarshan inaugurated the conference. Talks and papers by Sudarshanji, Padmashri P. Parameswaranji, Ranga Hari, Justice K.T. Thomas, Dr. S. Gurumurthy, Ram Madhav, M.G.S. Narayan, B.M.S. Vice president Saji Narayan, Dr. Madhavankutty, Dr. Radha-krishnan, Dr. Sankaran Ravindran etc. enlightened the elite delegates, who came from the entire state.

Hindu Mahamelas, Sammelans aimed at mass participation of Hindus irrespective of caste, class, economic or social barriers were held in every taluks of Kerala and major temples. An estimated 250 Hindu Sammelans in which almost 25 lakh Hindus participated have taken place. Gujarat Chief Minister Shri. Narendra Modi participated at a massive Hindu Mahamela organised in capital Thiruvananthapuram on January, 29 in which almost two lakh people participated. P. Parameswarji also addressed the Hindu ocean.

The entire literary works speeches, conversations of Guruji?Guruji Sahitya Sarvasam, compiled in a 12 volume encyclopedia, edited by Ranga Hari, was released by P. Parameswarji in the presence of former ICHR Chairman M.G.S. Narayan.

The entire parivar organisations like BJP, ABVP, BMS, Bharatiya Vichara Kendram, Seva Bharati, Vidyas Niketan, Balagokulam and the VHP etc. organised year long programmes aimed at arousing the Hindu minds to the threats to Hinduism and the nation. Lakhs of houses were visited by the swayam-sevaks and Guruji'smessage given. Service activities by Seva Bharati and starting of more vanavasi schools, hostels, hospitals etc. were the highlights of ?Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram?. More schools were also started by ?Vidya Niketan?.

Guruji had always a special liking for Kerala, because of its age-old culture, traditions, beautiful rivers and all-round greenery. Keralities who also hold Guruji in their hearts, gave befitting response to the Shri Guruji birth centenary celebrations.
