“The country does not need the politics of appeasement, which has destroyed the true and real spirit of secularism,? said VHP president Shri Ashok Singhal. He was addressing a huge gathering assembled at a Hindu Sammelan held in Srinagar, Uttaranchal, recently. Shri Singhal was in Uttaranchal as part of the birth centenary celebration of Shri Guruji. More than 150 Hindu Sammelans are to be held across the country.
Shri Singhal questioned the government as to why Afzal is being made a hero. He cautioned Hindus against Maoism, Islamic fanatics and Christian missionaries, as they have become the greatest danger to national integration. ?Hindus have become weak due to lack of the feeling of unity. More than one lakh Christian priests are today engaged in religious conversion in the country. Hindus have become minority in seven states and the number of Christians is increasing tremendously day-by-day. This number has increased eight times more than the number of Hindus in Nagaland, Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Nicobar,? he said.
The VHP president pointed out that several Christian organisations are involved in conversion of innocent people in Uttaranchal too under the guise of providing medical help. They are also taking advantage of the high-level of unemployment existing in the state in the same way as Maoists have done elsewhere. ?This has posed a grave danger to the security of Uttaranchal. If the government does not check it now, Uttaranchal too will become like any north-eastern state, deeply alienated from its roots,? he said and further added that due to the lack of will on the part of political parties to deal with terrorism, the internal security is under grave danger. The appeasement policy of the government towards Muslim fundamentalism is further endangering the security of the country. Describing the Muslim appeasement as the prime reason behind the worsening situation, Shri Singhal said the policy is reflected in recent incidents like opposition to Vande Matram and attempts to stay the death penalty of Afzal Guru. Describing the recent statements of Jammu and Kashmir politicians that hanging Afzal would result in chaos in the country as ominous signal for democracy, he said politically we have become free but we are slave culturally. That is the reason effective laws have not been made to prevent even the cow slaughter.
Opposing the Tehri Dam, Shri Singhal said the constant flow of the Ganga is essential and the significance of the Ganga will end in case its flow is hindered. He said Professors of Benaras Hindu University were issued notices for taking part in RSS activities and this was done at the instance of Shri Arjun Singh whose policy is nothing but Muslim appeasement. He said the massive agitation would soon be started against this.
Shri Ram Lal, former Kshetriya Pracharak, said the history proves that the parts of the country came under threat of separation where Hindus turned into minority and Kashmir and Nagaland are its burning examples. Shri Rajendra Pankaj, central secretary of VHP, said India was able to make progress only by following the path of dharma. Addressing another gathering in Roorkee, Shri Ishwar Singh, Kshetriya Organising Secretary of VHP, called upon the Hindus to awake from their slumber and give up their extreme liberalism and to learn some lessons from the mistakes of the past. Baba Devrishi Giri said the Hindu dharma is superior to all other religions.
Speaking at another Hindu Sammelan at Nainbagh in Tehri, Dr Devendra Bhasin expressed concern over the decreasing population of Hindus. He said India could regain its glory if it follows the path shown by Shri Guruji whose birth centenary is being celebrated. Hindus will have to be united for this purpose. If Hindus awake, the country will awake and progress. In spite of the bewildering variety of sects, castes and sub-castes, languages and dialects, customs and beliefs, food and dress, the Hindus should stand up and affirm their intrinsic unity, then only they would be able to defeat the aggressive Christian strategies and Muslim fundamentalists, he added.
Sant Jageram Shastri while addressing anther Hindu Sammelan in Vikasnagar said there is an urgent need for unity among Hindus. Our nation'sbasic malady did not lie in foreign slavery; it lay in its own disunity.
