Sangh Samachar
RSS pathsanchalan at Chakarata, Uttaranchal
By Ravindra Saini
It was an amazing sight for the people of Chakarata, essentially a scheduled tribe area of Uttaranchal and at a stone'sthrow from China border, to find uniformed RSS Swayamsevaks gathered in a large number. It was the first major event organised by RSS in 80 years of its history in this region. It was for the first time that the people of Chakarata witnessed so many RSS Swayamsevaks marching on the road. It may be noted that Christian missionaries have been very active in this region for the last several decades and there have been incidents of large-scale conversion.
The congregation of Swayamsevaks is evidence of the Sangh'sreach even to the most interior and secluded regions of the Himalayas. People of Chakarata were astonished to see such a military-like discipline by the RSS Swayamsevaks. A large crowd of people showered flower petals over the marching Swayamsevaks. The route march was accompanied by a group of ghosh vadak.
After the pathsanchalan, the Swayamsevaks reached the Cantonment High School where Uttaranchal Prant Pracharak, Shri Shiv Prakash, addressed them. He reminded them of the sacrifices made by Kesri Chand and Nand Ram Negi who hailed from this region and died as martyrs defending and protecting the freedom and integrity of this country. ?They preferred to be hanged instead of bowing before the British,? he added. Shri Shiv Prakash said that today the whole country was witnessing the fact that the RSS, which began as a tiny stream 79 years ago in Nagpur, had now swelled into a mighty river proliferating into thousands of channels and nurturing countless activities in every field of national life.
Presiding over the function, Shri Shyam Dutt Joshi said that illegal infiltration from Pakistan and Bangladesh was posing a serious danger to the national security and integrity.
