The devastating flood affected thousands of villages and lakhs of people of almost all the districts of Assam. The Sevikas of Rashtra Sevika Samiti along with other people not only remained in forefront in providing relief to the flood victims but also reached in interiors where no other organisation or the government agency could reach. According to Sunita Haldekar, Kshetra Pracharika of Samiti, after hearing the news of flood, the Sevikas rushed to flood affected areas with relief material. They collected assistance from the society and distributed it to the victims. Besides medicines, clothes, phenyl, bleaching powder, soaps, the affected families were provided with utensils required and foodgrains worth Rs 2 lakh. Although the relief work was done in all the districts of the state, the Sevikas work in the Nalbari, Morigaon and Nagaon districts was widely appreciated.
