Repair sacred well of Parsis Taking serious note o

NCM requests Maharashtra government f the second attack on the sacred well of Parsis in Mumbai, the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) has requested the government of Maharashtra to take adequate steps to ensure necessary repairs to the venerated well and bring the culprits to book at the earliest. The Commission also urged the state government to ensure the well'ssecurity to prevent any further vandalism.

It may be recalled that Bhika Behram nu kuvo, the Mumbai'ssacred well and place of pilgrimage for Parsi Zoroastrians all over the world, was damaged on May 23, 2004, by some miscreants. This sacred well was desecrated earlier also when its stained glass panels were damaged. The Commission had taken up the matter with the government of Maharashtra at that time also. The state government has assured that the Commission would investigate the incident after registering it as a crime.
