Whether political killings or conversions and now the stunt of beef festivals all stem from the same mindset of appeasing fundamentalists both by the Congress and CPM
Prof. C I Issac
Kerala, known as “God’s Own Country”, the birthplace of Adi Sankaracharya, in fact, functions as a paradox to it. The track record of Kerala’s Chief Minister is sufficient to prove the justifiability of the homicides of Swayamsevaks, public slaughtering of calf and depicting of the brave Indian Jawans as rapists by CPM general secretary Kodyeri Balakrishnan.
Kannur, the bastion of CPM, is virtually no different from ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) in killing of non-conformist to the CPM’s ideology and modus operandi. (Those who rebelled in the party were subjected to the process of extermination by the Party). Recently, the State government under the Marxist Party, celebrated its first anniversary. In this one year, in Kannur district alone, the Communist goons with the silent permission of the State government butchered twelve RSS Swayamsevaks. It is not a coincident because the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan himself was allegedly “involved” in the first murder of RSS man, called Vadikkal Ramakrishnan way back in 1969.
There on the annihilation of Swayamsevaks by CPM continues unabatedly. More than three hundred have lost life due to the barbarity of the CPM. The sword of the CPM has not spared even women and children. Last year, on December 28, with the blessings of the party top-brass a Swayamsevak’s house at Palakkad was set on fire which resulted in the death of whole family including women and children. This is the only background of current socio- political situation brewing in Kerala under the CPM regime.
Currently, the centre of the discussion is the Congress Party’s reaction to the recent cattle trade rules which are enacted in the light of Supreme Court directives. Article 48 of the Constitution of India mandates the state to prohibit the slaughter of cows and calves and other milking and draught-cattle to realise the dream of Gandhiji. The so-called custodians of Gandhiji’s tradition, the Indian National Congress, in Kannur (Kerala) breached his dream by public butchering of a poor calf in the broad light as reaction to the government that endeavors to fulfill the dreams of the father of nation. The paradox is that the police was just an onlooker throughout the Youth Congress slaughtering of calf protest. The ‘autistic’ leadership of the Congress, in order to escape from the wrath of the people merely suspended, instead of dismissing the butchers of cow and tendering unconditional apology to the Hindus, the culprits. With the silent nod of the Congress leadership all the 14 district offices in Kerala conducted grand beef festivals. Similarly the Kollam DCC President Mrs Bindu Krishna, in person, cooked the beef on the road side. All it was a deliberate shadow play to befool the poor and pious Hindus. They wanted to soothe the Muslim fundamentalist elements all over Bharat. This is nothing but a political game of vote-bank in the name of new cattle trading rules. Neither secular nor national Muslims or Christians leaderships of Kerala had come out with any antagonism or criticism against the regulation.
Historically, long before the arrival of Europeans in Kerala, the menu of Christian population had no beef. The Christian families (Syrian Christians), with roots in profound tradition of Kerala are not the consumers of beef. Similarly, the Malayalee Muslims traditionally prefer mutton over beef. (Buffalo was strange to Kerala until the beginning of twentieth century). In order to en-cash lofty feelings of the poor Muslims and secure the votes of the fundamentalist Muslims in the forthcoming elections is the hidden agenda of CPM and Congress which played through the game of beef fests.
Communism had acquired, even though it is nominal, a global presence. Are they ready to conduct a pork fest in any Muslim countries? For the Hindus of Bharat, cow is not an incarnation (avatar). The God-ship comes from sense of respect and gratitude towards cow. The Hindus never raised any objection to the slaughtering of swine, their third incarnation. But the question of cow is more Dharmic and sentimental than religious. In the Indian context, it is a belief and experience that cow is the only animal that has utility throughout the life for the welfare of humankind. It continues to be the backbone of village economy of India. So the question of cow here is economic, humane and cultural. The very foundation of the Hindu civilisation is laid on such lofty ideals of reciprocal relationship between human beings and environment. Hence everyone across the religious belief is bound to exalt the Hindu magnanimity and catholicity. Do not consider Hindu’s endurance as his weakness.
As if this drama of beef politics was not enough. CPM secretary of Kerala unit, in order to inflame the Muslim bigotry, while inaugurating the Minority Rights meeting at Kannur, organised by a Muslim fundamentalist outfit, used foul language against the Indian army. Pakistani newspapers celebrated the CPM Secretary’s loquacity. But here also police is helpless, because of obvious reasons.
One more anti-Hindu and anti- national stand of the Kerala government is exposed in Manjeri where an Islamic institute named Satyasarani (meaning path of truth!) has been running exclusively for the conversion. The major victims of this jihad under the banner of Satyasarani are chiefly the Hindu girls, the most unorganised section of Kerala. In the last week honorable High Court of Kerala, through a historic judgment, sent back a Hindu professional girl student along with her parents with full police protection. The said girl was abducted, brainwashed and converted to Islam as a member of the suicidal squad intended to wage jihad in Syria. Parents of the girl complained before the Kerala police. Police played the game of Tom and Jerry. They realised the foul play of the police and finally approached the honorable High Court. The Court through a search warrant found out the girl from the Satyasarani. At last, after a prolonged trial of one year the Court had sent back their daughter along with parents with ample protection. The court prima facie found the foul play of the fundamentalists and a severe judgment was awarded. Satyasarani also actively involved defending their cause in the case by hiring an eminent advocate. Instead of appealing to the higher judiciary, the fundamentalist Islam under the Popular Front stewardship conducted a protest march against the High Court and threatened the judge with filthy words. Police stopped the demonstration at a reasonable distance away from the High Court. The police once again played the nasty game. The parody of the affair was that the protesters used the top of the water cannon as their stage to abuse Indian judiciary. They also used loud speakers of the same vehicle. Here also police functioned as sheer spectators.
In order to save the face, police charged a case against three thousand persons who can be identified under Section 283 of IPC. The number of agitators was less than 1500. This attempt of the police is to give a safe exit to the fundamentalist Islam from the eyes of Indian judicial system.
All these events indicate the pathetic law and order situation rooted in the in a State known to be God’s Own Country. The root lies in ‘secular’ hypocracy.
