Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on August 25, launched Mission Samriddh Gaon at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi, outlining an initiative aimed at transforming villages through an integrated approach to development.
The mission has been conceived to create villages that are not only free from poverty but also offer greater employment opportunities and assured access to basic amenities.
According to the Office of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the initiative seeks to establish a comprehensive and integrated model for rural development, bringing together different aspects of village-level growth.
Focus on poverty-free and employment-rich villages
At the launch, Chouhan emphasised the importance of prosperous villages in achieving the broader national goal of a developed India.
The mission’s central objective is to develop villages where poverty is addressed alongside the creation of sustainable employment opportunities.
The initiative also places emphasis on ensuring basic amenities for rural communities, with the larger aim of improving living standards and making villages more self-reliant.
The Office of Shivraj Singh Chouhan described the initiative with the message: “Prosperous villages, strong foundation of a developed India.”
The statement underlined the government’s view that strengthening rural communities is essential to the country’s development journey.
Integrated approach to rural development
Mission Samriddh Gaon is designed around an integrated model rather than focusing on a single aspect of village development.
