Raipur: In a significant development, hundreds of people have reverted to Sanatan fold in a Ghar Wapsi program held in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur district.
The program was organized at Raipur’s Gudiyari area where around 500 people of 240 families were reunited with their bona-fide religion amidst chants of Vedic Mantras.
The ceremony was organised at the Dahi Handi ground on November 8 and headed by Akhil Bharatiya Ghar Wapsi Pramukh, Prabal Pratap Judev who after washing the feet of returnees welcomed them into the Sanatan stream. The program was also attended by revered Sant Swami Narendracharya Maharaj and others.
According to reports, many of those who made a return to the Sanatan fold had embraced Christianity allegedly to avail health benefits and cure from illnesses. The families however decided to reunite with their original faith after their health related concerns did not improved over time.
Notably, hundreds of people had also reverted to Sanatan fold in a similar program held in Sarangarh of Chhattisgarh on October 30. The program was organised as part of the ‘Virat Hindu Sammellan (conference).
The event was attended by revered Sants and members of the Dharm Jagran who on the occasion had stressed upon the unity for Dharma and culture.
As many as 140 people were reverted to the Sanatan fold in the program which was organised near Hardi Hawai Patti of Darrabhata. The ceremony had also witnessed an active participation of the locals who attended the program in large numbers.
Addressing the attendees, Prabal Judev on the occasion had emphasized that Sanatan is not just a religion but an excellent way of life which leads on the path of truth, love and harmony.
Judev at the event also paid his tributes to Baba Kartik Oraon, asserting that the latter dedicated his life protecting the culture of Janjati society and fighting for their rights.
It must be noted that the state of Chhattisgarh, more particularly its tribal dominated pockets in Bastar and Surguja have long been marred by conversion activities often prompting strong protests from the locals.
