Forced Religious Conversion in Mau: Two Christians arrested for converting through miracle healing

Two missionaries were arrested in Mau, Uttar Pradesh, for luring people into conversion through a “miracle healing” prayer event, where police seised large amounts of religious literature. The raid, carried out with the help of Bajrang Dal, exposed deceptive claims of supernatural cures used as a tool for Christianisation

Police in Mau district, Uttar Pradesh have arrested two Christian missionaries who were allegedly running a so-called miracle healing prayer meeting. The event, which projected itself as a faith-based congregation, was reportedly a front to lure vulnerable locals into conversion under the guise of miraculous cures and divine interventions.

The breakthrough came after inputs from Bajrang Dal, who alerted local authorities to the large gathering. Acting swiftly, police raided the spot and uncovered a significant cache of religious literature, pamphlets, and conversion-targeted material being distributed among the attendees. Officials present at the scene were reportedly shocked at the brazen claims of supernatural powers and “instant healing” being peddled to unsuspecting villagers.

Police sources confirmed that the two arrested missionaries had organised similar events in the past, exploiting the desperation of poor families by promising cures for illness, financial relief, and other life problems through conversion. The seizure of literature has raised suspicions of a larger, well-funded conversion network operating in the region.
