Reports suggest that Rs 262 crore has been transferred to the accounts of the now-outlawed Popular Front of India (PFI) from abroad. The money has been transferred to 29 bank accounts during the period from May 2009 to May 2022. It is to be remembered that the Union Home Ministry banned the terrorist PFI on 28 September 2022. Rs 30.07 crore had been seized from the sympathisers of PFI.
Moideen K Faizy, the president of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), the political wing of the banned terrorist organisation PFI, was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on 3 March 2025 at Delhi International Airport. He was booked for money laundering. He has been the anchor of the foreign funds coming to the country for fundamentalist and terrorist organisations. There were media reports that he was planning to flee the country.

PFI and SDPI have been organising money mainly from Gulf countries. These terrorist outfits enjoy thousands of followers, including Keralites, in Gulf countries. The inflow of funds has been spent on anti-national activities. They reportedly had wide plans for the execution of their schemes.
Earlier, various documents and digital equipment had been seized during raids on the offices of PFI and the houses of the leaders of the terrorist outfit, PFI. Crucial and vital information was collected from these documents. Their modus operandi was interesting. Firstly, the foreign funds were deposited in the accounts of the men who sent the money. Then, they were transferred to the accounts of the Popular Front of India. When these accounts were scrutinised thoroughly, it was found that the fund transfers were not legal and were used for anti-national activities. The funds that came from abroad were not properly accounted for in the Popular Front of India’s account statements.
Nationalist movements and individuals are closely following the developments as the authorities work to tighten control over the terrorist outfits and gather more information in the interests of the country’s security.
