A major protest erupted in Geedam town of Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh on March 10 after a shopkeeper allegedly exposed a 15-year-old minor girl to pornographic content when the latter visited his shop.
The protestors gathered in large number in search of the accused and later jammed the national highway, demanding his immediate arrest.
The protest erupted on late evening Monday when the girl narrated her ordeal to the family members. Learning about the incident, the locals tried searching for the accused near a mosque and later staged a protest, demanding arrest of the accused.
The protest led to a charged up atmosphere in the locality, cautioning the authorities who soon arrived at the spot and tried calming the agitated residents.
The accused shopkeeper has been identified as Rafique who runs a shop at the town. He reportedly flashed his private parts to the minor girl along exposing her to pornographic content when she visited his shop with her brother to get her watch repaired.
Acting on swiftly, the police filed a First Information Report (FIR) into the matter and succeeded in nabbing the accused on the basis of technical intelligence.
