This decision comes in response to requests from filmmakers, particularly from North Indian states, following the delayed announcement of the competition in certain regions. The new submission deadline is now January 21, 2025, coinciding with the 90th birth anniversary of G. Aravindan, as a tribute to the legendary filmmaker.

The Aravindam National Short Film Festival offers filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their talent and win some of the most substantial prizes in the short film industry. As announced by the Secretary of Thampu Film Society, the competition is open to short films with a maximum duration of 30 minutes, divided into two categories: 1. Environmental Protection calls for films that address the pressing need for ecological conservation, urging individuals to take meaningful steps to safeguard the planet for future generations.

As per the organiser, eighteen films will be shortlisted for the festival finale, with each finalist receiving ₹10,000, a certificate, and a statue of fame.
