Manipur: Kuki terrorists attack DC and SP office in Kangpokpi district; SP police personal and civilians also injured

Imphal: Armed Kuki terrorists attacked the DC and SP office in Kangpokpi district in the evening of 3rd January. Video circulated in social media shows that numbers of Kuki terrorists dressed in camouflage and automatic weapons in hand seen running towards the SP and DC offices of the district.

Earlier, tense standoff between security forces and protestors in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district has left multiple people injured, including one woman and several male protestors, who are reported to be in critical condition. After the clash between security forces and protestors, Video surfaced on social media showing armed terrorists with sophisticated firearms, dressed in uniform-like attire, raising slogans against the security forces.

Sources said the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Kangpokpi district was also reportedly injured during the confrontation. The clashes erupted amid ongoing unrest in the area, with protesters blocking the national highway, causing widespread disruption to transport and communication.

The situation remains volatile as authorities work to restore order. Further updates are awaited as both sides call for resolution amidst rising tensions.

The Kuki people are protesting the setting up.of central security forces camps in the area. Kuki organisations are also protesting against the closure of illegal bunkers by central forces set up by Kuki terrorist groups. In the last few days numbers of Kuki organisations were engaged in conflicts with paramilitary forces deployed in the area.

Meanwhile on 2nd January, Security personnel conducted area domination and search operations in the vulnerable and outlying areas of the hill and valley districts. Search operations yielded the following items: One SLR magazine, three SBBL country-made, two 9mm pistol magazines, three  7.62mm live rounds, and four SBBL live ammunition from Saiboh village forest areas, Churachandpur District.
