BHUBANESWAR: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Foundation Day and Vijayadashmi Utsav were celebrated in Brahmapur Mahanagar, Odisha, on October 10. Path Sanchalans commenced at 7 am throughout the city. Following this, Swayamsevaks gathered at the grounds of Khallikote University. Dr. Anil Mishra, the Karyavah of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Odisha (East) Prant, attended the event.

As part of the grand programme organised by Brahmapur Mahanagar, impressive path sanchalans were carried out from four different locations. These processions commenced from Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir in Gosainuagaon, Neelkanth Nagar Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, the Irrigation Department Office near Courtpeta Chowk, and MKCG Medical College Ground, all converging at the Khallikote University Ground.

Uniformed swayamsevaks marched through the city, accompanied by Ghosh Vadya and saffron flags. Along the way, local residents warmly welcomed the participating swayamsevaks with flowers, lamps, and other offerings. Following the procession, a program at the university ground featured the swayamsevaks showcasing physical demonstrations such as Niyuddha (martial arts), Dand Yudh (stick fighting), and Yogasanas.

On this occasion, RSS Ganjam Vibhag Sanghchalak and retired college principal Dr. Bhagwan Tripathi, along with District Sanghchalak and retired homeopathic college principal Dr Prashant Kumar Pati, were present on stage. Senior orthopedic surgeon and president of the Doctors’ Forum, Dr Shankarshan Patra, served as the chief guest. The chief speaker for the event was Dr Anil Kumar Mishra, Sangh’s Odisha (Purv) Prant Karyavah. The program was coordinated by Nagar Karyavah Suresh Bishoi.

In his address, the chief guest, Dr Shankarshan Patra, emphasised the need for a healthy culture and mindset to build a strong nation. He expressed concern that, in today’s times, people often identify themselves based on their state, religion, or caste, rather than taking pride in being Bharatiya. He highlighted that culture begins with individuals, and only when this mindset shifts from the family to the broader nation, can the country truly prosper.

The chief speaker of the event, Prant Karyavah Dr Anil Mishra, highlighted that while there may be diverse ideologies within society, for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the nation (Rashtra)  and devotion to the nation (Rashtrabhakti) are paramount. He emphasized that Rashtrabhakti is the foundational step towards personal development. In the Sangh’s daily shakhas, swayamsevaks are instilled with a deep sense of dedication and service to the nation, which motivates them to serve their country selflessly. Dr. Mishra noted that the RSS has become the largest nationalist volunteer organisation in the world because it nurtures qualities like social service, discipline, and commitment.
