PATNA: In a shocking development, Bihar police on Monday, September 30 arrested a 62-year-old man for raping a six-year-old minor girl. The victim girl was known to the accused who was employed as a driver in the victim’s family.
The incident has taken place under Shikarpur police station limits of West Champaran district, sending shockwaves through the area. According to the reports, the accused used to drop and pick up the minor victim girl from school on a daily basis and was a trusted employee of the victim family.
Shockingly, the accused is a father of 7 including 3 daughters and 4 of his children are already married. The incident exposes the grim reality of augmenting crime of sexual nature against minor girls, instilling a sense of concern about the safety of minors, especially the school kids.
On the day of the incident, the accused reportedly took the girl in a nearby secluded place and raped her. The incident came to light after the girl narrated her ordeal to the family members after which the minor’s family lodged a complaint against the accused on September 30.
Sensing the seriousness of the crime, Superintendent of Police (SP), West Champaran, Shaurya Suman promptly formed a team lead by Sub Divisional Police Officer, Narkatiyaganj to investigate the matter. Acting on technical and human inputs, the police team then nabbed the accused within 12 hours of lodging of the complaint.
Further, a FSL team was also called on the spot of crime which subsequently collected evidences from the site. A medical examination of the minor victim girl has also been conducted at the district hospital, Bettiah. Further action in the case is being taken by the authorities.
Notably, incidents of similar nature have been keep coming to the fore from separate corners of the country, indicating about an urgent need of introspection within the society, on such heinous crimes against minor girls.
