BHUBNESHWAR: Mohan Charan Majhi’s BJP government in Odisha has completed  100 days in power. In the last general election, the people of Odisha chose to replace the Biju Janata Dal government, which had been in power for 24 years, by giving their support to the BJP. At that time, the BJP made significant promises to the citizens of the state. Now, as the Mohan Majhi government marks its first 100 days, it has recorded some milestone achievements in the first 100 days, keeping a tryst with its pre-poll promises.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented his government’s 100-day report on September 19 at a special program held at Sharadhabali, asserting that the promises outlined in BJP election manifesto for 2024 are being fulfilled within the specified timeframe.

He emphasised his government’s commitment to meeting the aspirations of the people as they work towards the goal of creating a ‘Viksit Odisha’ by 2036.

“We opened four gates of the Shreemandir and the Ratna Bhandar.

A corpus fund of Rs 500 crore was established to address the exigencies of the Jagannath Temple, along with an additional Rs 200 crore earmarked for the protection of Odia Asmita.

“We also launched the Subhadra Yojana to provide financial support to women, fulfilling a promise made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Furthermore, we have taken stringent measures to combat corruption in the State,” said Majhi He said as many as 71 corruption cases were registered in just 100 days and 58 government officials, including 17 Class I and Seven Class II officers, were arrested.

The Chief Minister stated that the people of the state voted the BJP into power after feeling betrayed by the previous BJD government, which ruled for 24 years. “We are a people’s government focusing on their aspirations. The grievances of the people were ignored during the last government, but we are now committed to addressing them,” he said.

He also announced plans to establish grievance cells in the western, southern, and northern regions to listen to the problems of the people in the coming days.

The Chief Minister said his government has allocated Rs 5,000 crore in its budget to purchase paddy from farmers at Rs 3,100 per quintal. This initiative is part of the Chief Minister Kisan Yojana, aimed at supporting farmers who were previously deprived of benefits. To facilitate the process, a dedicated portal has been launched, ensuring eligible farmers receive the support they need.

“We have planned to create an industrial corridor. Three semiconductor units are going to be set up,” said the Chief Minister.

CM Majhi also said his government has already made efforts to establish FDI Parks and 11 MSME Parks to accelerate the economic growth of the State and provide jobs to youth.

The Chief Minister said an Awas Plus portal has already been made operational to provide free houses to all eligible people under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana.

Majhi said the Aayusman Bharat Yojana will soon be introduced to provide healthcare support to the people. The already launched Gopabandhu Arogya Yojna will be a milestone in providing financial support to people in the treatment of life-threatening diseases.

Major accomplishments of the government

The major accomplishments of the government include opening of the four gates of Srimandir, the abode of Lord Jagannath at Puri, unlocking of the Ratna Bhandar of Srimandir after four decades, hiking paddy’s minimum support price (MSP) to Rs 3,100 and rolling out its flagship women welfare initiative Subhadra Yojana.

In order to bring the governance closer to the people, CM Majhi reopened the Chief Minister’ Grievance Cell which had remained closed for 16 years. He, along with senior ministers and top officers, has started listening to people’s grievances every Monday.

Under CM Majhi’s rule, the bureaucracy has seemingly been more active. The CM’s presence in his office in the state secretariat for long hours and regular review of the progress of various projects and schemes have galvanised the administrative machinery starting from the top level to the grassroots.
