Bangladesh Riots Makes Strong Case for CAA, Argues V. Muraleedharan

V. Muraleedharan emphasized the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA) as vital, citing the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh. He criticized Congress and CPM for opposing CAA, a law intended to protect those facing religious discrimination. Highlighting Bangladesh's anti-Hindu riots, he argued that Bharat's commitment to "Unity in Diversity" and stable governance makes CAA crucial for safeguarding minority rights.

BJP leader and former Union Minister V. Muraleedharan said that the atrocities being carried out against the minorities, including Hindus, in Bangladesh shoot up the relevance and significance of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA 2019). Narendra Modi’s regime brought CAA to give asylum and citizenship to minorities from neighbouring Muslim countries who seek refuge in Bharat due to religious persecution. He blamed Congress and CPM for opposing CAA, a law provision to help the people who face religious discrimination and persecution in their respective countries.

Muraleedharan was addressing a seminar on “Bangladesh Burning”, in Thiruvananthapuram, on 16 August, organised by BJP’s Intellectual Cell. Statements from certain quarters in our country regarding Bangladesh-style riots in Bharat are disturbing. Bharath has always had a policy and goal of stable administration and a government focused on the welfare and well-being of its people. We have never attempted to destabilize any country or disrupt its integration. If Hindus become a minority in the country, people like Rahul Gandhi and Pinarayi Vijayan will become’mouni babas’. Muraleedharan questions if the CPM and Congress believe that Hindus do not have minority rights anywhere.

The former Union Minister added that Bharat always likes to have stable democratic governments in the neighbourhood. But, Jamaat-e-Islami who carry out anti-Hindu riots in Bangladesh do not have either any Bangla sentiment or any respect towards democracy. What they do have is merely religious passion. People will realize the hypocrisy of those who ignore the atrocities against Hindus. ‘Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu’ is the ultimate prayer of Bharat. Foreign dignitaries like Dalai Lama and Sheikh Hasina sought asylum here, thanks to the Sanatan Dharma we follow. No religious terrorism has succeeded in demolishing ‘Unity in Diversity’, our great policy.

In Kerala, not only Hindus but also all right-thinking people have realized the double standards being flaunted by both the ruling CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) and opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in connection with their attitude towards atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. The successful conduct of the demonstrations and marches in Kerala last week with a call to save Hindus in Bangaldesh has proved it.
