Raipur: In yet another targeted killing of civilian in Maoist-infested Sukma district, cadres of the banned Maoist outfit have brutally killed a villager in Nagaram village on late Saturday evening, August 10. The deceased has been identified as Hemla Sukla (55), a former village head and a resident of Nagram village.
The fateful incident took place when as many as two cadres of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) barged into the house of Sukla on late Saturday evening and killed him by slitting his throat. The ultras have also alleged the deceased to be an informer of the police.
The brutal killing of Sukla sent shockwaves into the region culminating in another tragic death of a civilian who hanged herself fearing persecution by the Maoist. The deceased has been identified as Hemla Sanni, a resident of Patelpara under the Nagaras Panchayat.
Handwritten note issuing warning against 18 individuals for dire consequences
According to the reports floating in the media, the outlaws have also dropped a handwritten note on the spot issuing a warning for as many as 18 individuals for dire consequences.
The outlawed grouped in the pamphlet dropped have accused these individuals for assisting the security forces in establishing security camps in the area asserting that the Maoist outfit will punish them with death. The note has been dropped by the Keralapaal Area Committee of the CPI Maoist.
An investigation into the case has been launched by the police who has denied any prior associations with the deceased villagers. Further search operations in the vicinity of the area are also being conduced to trace the Maoists involved in the act.
34 civilians killed by Maoists in last six month
It is worth mentioning here that the civilians of the areas infested by Maoist insurgency have been facing the brunt of the deadly conflict since long. The same has been also reflected in the figures released by the government on regular intervals.
Recently while replying to a query raised in the state assembly, the deputy Chief Minister (CM) of the state, Vijay Sharma who also oversee the home portfolio had informed the house that a total of 34 civilians have been killed in separate violent attacks carried out by the banned outfit in the last six month i.e till June of this year.
24 out of the 34 civilians killed by the terror group were executed on alleged charges of being informers while one civilian causality has been reported in the Maoist’s firing. In addition to this four people have been executed in the self-styled “Jan Adalat” being carried out by the outlawed group in the areas of their dominance, informed deputy CM Sharma.
It must be noted that the surge in targeted killings of civilians by Maoists is believed to be culminated from brewing frustration among the outlaws who have been forced to withdraw from areas earlier considered as core insurgency zone due to emergence of scores of security camps/forward operating bases.
