Three Christians have been arrested in Amritsar, Punjab, for allegedly slaughtering cows at their residence and selling the meat.
On July 21, police officials conducted a raid and apprehended three accused individuals, identified as Nishan Masih, Ajay Masih, and Samuel Masih. They recovered a significant quantity of beef from their possession.
The incident occurred in Dayal Bhatti village within the jurisdiction of Ramdas police station in rural Amritsar. Authorities received information about cow slaughter and meat sales, prompting a police raid on the accused person’s residence.
During the raid led by SI Naresh Kumar and his team from Ramdas police station, approximately 160 kg of beef, along with cow skin and other body parts, was recovered. Subsequently, Nishan Masih, Ajay Masih, and Samuel Masih were arrested on July 21, and they have been charged under relevant sections of the BNS Act.
According to police statements, the accused individuals were involved in the illegal sale of cow meat in neighbouring areas despite a ban on such sales since 1955. The police indicated that additional measures will be taken against the trio as per court directives.
