A distressing case of Love Jihad has come to light from the Raebareli district of Uttar Pradesh. Here, a minor Hindu girl was trapped into a relationship by a man identified as Tauheed but posed as a Hindu named Janu Mishra. When the girl discovered Tauheed’s true identity, she tragically took her own life.

The girl’s father has since filed an FIR, alleging that Tauheed, along with his brother and father, had been threatening their family.

The accused have been identified as Tauheed, his brother Tasleem alias Chhotu, and their father Lallan, all residents of Jainapur Majre Kheero in Raebareli.

An FIR (Number 0283/2024) was registered on July 15, 2024, at Kheero Police Station under sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Organiser called Kheero Station House Officer (SHO) Yashodevan Bhadoriya confirmed that the prime accused, Tauheed, was arrested on July 16 and subsequently presented before the court. The minor girl has already recorded her statement with the police and is scheduled to give her statement in court on July 16.

Ram Prakash Tiwari, the father of the victim, told the police that his daughter was a student in the 11th grade at Saraswati Inter College in Kheero. Around a year ago, Tauheed, using the false identity of Janu Mishra, approached the minor on her way to school. Tiwari’s younger daughter informed him about the situation.

The complaint details how Tauheed trapped the girl in a love affair under the guise of being a Hindu.

Upon learning his true identity, the girl committed suicide on February 1 of this year. At the time, the police conducted Panchayat Nama proceedings, but no further action was taken.

When Tiwari confronted Tauheed’s family about the incident, Tauheed, his brother Tasleem, and their father Lallan allegedly threatened and chased him away, warning him not to file a case. Fearing for his safety, Tiwari initially hesitated but has now filed a formal complaint, urging the police to take action.

A video statement from the victim’s younger sister, who is in the 8th grade, revealed further details. She recounted how her sister believed Tauheed was Janu Mishra and planned to marry him. She also described threats from Tauheed and his brother whenever she went to school.

Tiwari, accompanied by several men, confronted Tauheed and discovered his true identity as a Muslim from Jainapur. Despite urged by some to avoid conflict for the sake of his daughter’s future, Tiwari pursued legal action due to continuous threats and harassment.

The younger sister mentioned that after her sister’s suicide, the police assured the family they would take action but have yet to follow through. The family continues to face threats while awaiting justice.

Speaking with Organiser on July 16, Ram Prakash Tiwari revealed that his troubles began back in March 2020 when he took a stand against illegal cow smuggling for slaughter. The accused in that case were Mohammad Azad, Akbar, and others. Since then, Tiwari has been subjected to continuous threats from the Muslim community in his locality. The cow smugglers had slaughtered multiple cows at the time, and Tiwari not only lodged a complaint but ensured the arrest of the accused.

After the arrests, Tiwari’s family faced a series of harrowing events. His younger daughter narrowly survived an accident involving a pickup truck. Soon after, his elder daughter became ensnared in a deceitful relationship with Tauheed, whose relatives had been arrested for cow smuggling. Tiwari himself has been on the receiving end of numerous threats.

Tiwari has demanded that the accused be charged under sections of the POCSO Act, given the involvement of a minor in the case.
