A distressing case of love jihad and sexual assault has emerged in the Ankur Vihar area of Ghaziabad. The incident involves a man named Sameer, who concealed his religious identity to marry a Hindu woman and subsequently raped her. When the woman discovered the truth, she was brutally assaulted for protesting.

The victim reported the incident to the police, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) and the arrest of the accused.

According to the victim, she became friends with a man named Naresh a year ago, who claimed to be from Seemapuri, Delhi. They began meeting frequently and talking on the phone daily. The victim, who worked in a factory in the Mansarovar Colony of Shahdara, was later employed in the same factory as Naresh.

Over time, Naresh started visiting her residence, and on March 13 of the previous year, he coerced her into a physical relationship under the pretence of marriage, threatening her to keep it a secret.

The woman pressured Naresh to marry her, and he took her to a Shiv temple in Haridwar, where he applied sindoor (vermilion) on her. However, they did not perform the traditional Saptapadi (seven steps around the sacred fire) nor chant the mantras, which are customary in a Hindu wedding. Despite this, Naresh convinced her that they were officially married.

A month later, the victim accompanied Naresh to his house in Nandnagari, where she overheard people calling him Sameer. Growing suspicious, she questioned him, leading to the revelation that her so-called husband was not Naresh, but a Muslim named Sameer. Further investigation revealed that Sameer lived in Shahidnagar, Ghaziabad.

When confronted with the truth, Sameer assaulted the woman and pressured her to convert to Islam, threatening to kill her if she refused. She managed to escape and returned home, subsequently filing a police complaint.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Bhaskar Verma confirmed the arrest of Sameer, alias Naresh. The accused has been charged with rape and assault under false pretences and has been sent to jail. The police are continuing their investigation to ensure justice for the victim.

This alarming incident highlights the dangers of deceit and the severe impact it can have on victims. The swift action by the police in arresting the accused reflects a commitment to addressing such crimes and providing justice to the victims. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for stringent measures to prevent such deceptive practices.
