The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has intensified calls for the immediate arrest of Abbas Sami, the former Deputy Mayor and current president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) town unit, who has been missing since May 14. Sami is accused in connection with a violent incident where a Hindu youth, Bharat, was attacked by a Muslim mob for being romantically involved with a Muslim girl.

Speaking at a press conference, VHP Karimnagar district secretary Vidhyasagar stated that Abbas Sami has a history of targeting Hindu boys, harassing them for merely interacting with Muslim girls, even though they are from the same college and classmates. Vidhyasagar urged the police to file a case against Sami under the PD Act and to document all communal incidents he has been involved in.

According to the case details, Abbas Sami and his gang intercepted a bike-riding couple—a Hindu boy and a Muslim girl—and severely attacked the boy, Bharat, hurling abuses at him for being Dalit and for attempting to have a relationship with a Muslim girl.

Pradeep, a member of Bajrangdal, Karimnagar, said, “ As per our sources, Abbas Sami is taking shelter at Darul-ul-Salam, headquarters of AIMIM party and he is being shielded by its party president Asaduddin Owaisi in Hyderabad.”

The VHP has demanded his immediate arrest, as it is crucial for maintaining communal harmony and law and order in the town.

The press conference was addressed by members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Karimanagar unit and Bajrangdal zonal convenor Pradeep, Srinivas, Rajender, Shiva, Ajay, and Anil, brother of Bharat, were also present.
