Vishva Hindu Parishad, Warangal, has filed a complaint with the district election commissioner, against “Secular Writers Forum, Virasam, Telangana Praja Front, CLC,” a group of organisations, for conducting an unauthorised meeting at Kakaitya University on April 28, alleging certain speakers were engaged in inflammatory rhetoric that was deeply offensive and derogatory towards the sentiments of the Sanatan Dharma (Hindutva) community, both in India and globally.

According to the VHP, the event was held without prior permission from relevant authorities and in violation of the Election Model Code of Conduct; additionally, it was organised by government officials and took place on the campus of Kakatiya University, a space dedicated to academic pursuits. This meeting not only lacked necessary approvals, but it also involved coercing students and staff members into attending against their choice.

VHP says the speeches were aimed at provoking communal disharmony, inciting religious tensions, and disrupting the democratic fabric of our nation. Such speeches, which are tantamount to propaganda targeting the sentiments of Hindus, are not only unlawful but also pose a grave threat to public peace and harmony, especially during the electoral period.

Moreover, VHP says, the organisers conducted sessions on objectionable topics such as “Decoding Ramayana”, “Literary Ramayana – Political Ram” openly discussing and criticising Hindu culture, tradition. These discussions are highly inappropriate and could potentially fuel division and bias among the public, especially during the sensitive period of elections.

Sriram Uday, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) Warangal district secretary, has called upon the Election Commission (EC) to take decisive action against individuals responsible for organising an alleged unlawful event at Kakatiya University.

“We demand EC to initiate an FIR against Prof. T. Ramesh, Vice Chancellor and Prof. Malla Reddy, Registrar of Kakatiya University, for their direct oversight and authorization of this unlawful event within university premises, as well against the organisers, volunteers, and professors involved in orchestrating this event. The authorities must also investigate the potential links of these urban naxals to banned organisations like CPI (Maoists) and take appropriate action to ensure the safety and security of the nation,” stated Uday.

“In the guise of literary freedom, there’s been a trend of attacking Hindutva and its fundamental values and principles. While freedom of speech and expression is a cherished right, it should not be misused to propagate divisive agendas or target specific communities,” he concluded.
