On November 5, 2023, Pro-Palestinian protesters climbed the White House fence and attacked the Secret Service Agents who were trying to stop them. Thousands marched on the streets of Washington DC and eventually gathered at the residence of the US President Joe Biden. It is unclear that whether Joe Biden was there in his residence or not.
The Protests
The protests began around 1300hrs (1:00 PM) .The protestors roared slogans like From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free. They wore black and white keffiyehs while holding the Palestinian flags. The Rapper Macklemore was also present in the protests.
Macklemore also said: “I know that it is a genocide, he said to cheers. He has said that he was forced and urged to remain quiet. “We have been taught to just be complicit to protect our careers and interests, I am not afraid.”
“Today we are here because the White House, the headquarters of war and imperialism and is forced to look at his own crimes directly, one speaker said. “Every single Palestinian Death, every shattered child, every home destroyed, every heart broken and blood is on Biden’s hands. The Zionist Colonists who are carrying out these unspeakable killings are fully equipped and paid by the White House that we can see from here.”
Most of them were youths and upon reaching the White House , they smeared and spread red paint on the northwestern gate of thr residence to symbolize the bloodshed in Gaza. Being at least 10,000 in numbers also covered the General Marquis de Lafayette Statue ad Lafayette Park with graffiti and Palestinian flags.
Another slogan that was raised was Long Live the Intifada,” which is an Arabic Word for the referring to the Palestinian Crisis. Some of them even had the audacity to say Allahu Akbar and used derogatory language
The protesters also chanted slogans “We do not want a Jewish State, We want 48, referring to the first Arab-Israeli War. Their key demands were an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and end to US aid to Israel. Dozens of small white body flags with the name of children killed in the street and demonstrators held signs for calling an immediate cease fire.
The call for a ceasefire in Gaza got louder from many corners as Israeli intensified its attack. According to the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza, more than 9400 Palestinians have been killed in the territory since October 7, 2023, launched an attack on Israel, killing 1,400 people.
Protests Elsewhere
Protests took place in several cities across the United States of America and other places like in Europe. Hundreds of them marched in Ankara, London, Paris, and Berlin. They were also seen in huge magnitude (numbers) outside the residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Israel is fighting a major war with Hamas which has launched a surprise attack on October 7, 2023, have killed and have taken a large number of citizens as hostages. The PM of Israel, Benjamín Netanyahu has vowed to destroy Hamas in retaliation while rejecting calls for ceasefires.
