On Friday, days after Hamas’ declaration for a ‘global jihad’ on October 13, Islamist groups in India heeded the call, orchestrating a massive gathering and vocal protests against Israel during the umma Namaz event from Kashmir to Delhi.

A video released by ANI showcased fervent Hamas supporters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district, who assembled in large numbers to express their discontent with Israel’s response to the attack perpetrated by the Islamist extremist organisation.

These demonstrators voiced slogans such as ‘Murdabad Murdabad, Israel Murdabad’, ‘Naara e Takbeer’, and ‘Allah hu Akbar’, along with expressions of solidarity with Palestine.

An Islamic ‘scholar‘ from Mumbai, Hazrat Moin Miya, also extended support to the appeal by Hamas. “It is requested that all Muslims must pray for ‘poor’ Palestinians on Jumma Day in your respective mosques. Pray to Allah that He takes care of Palestinians and wreaks havoc on Israel,” he prayed.

Left-leaning and Islamist student organisations like AISA and SIO at Jamia Milia Islamia likewise heeded Hamas’ call for a ‘global jihad’. On the day, October 13, they rallied for a large-scale student mobilisation to demonstrate ‘solidarity with Palestine’ and voiced aspirations for the eventual dissolution of the Jewish State of Israel.

Swarajya Journalist, Swati Goel Sharma shared video and poster of the march organised in Jamia. Sharing the visuals she wrote, “Terrorist group Hamas gave a call to observe today (13 October) as ‘Day Of General Mobilization’ for their cause. Among those heeding the call are student groups at Jamia Milia Islamia in Indian capital city Delhi. Participants are Leftist AISA and ‘Jamiat’ groups like SIO and MSU. You can see policemen posted at the campus”

On October 11, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh (in office since 2017) issued a call to the Muslim community, urging them to participate in a ‘global jihad’ and be willing to make sacrifices for the Palestinian cause. Israeli journalist Emily Schrader confirmed this development on X (formerly Twitter).

Since 2020, Haniyeh, along with other high-ranking Hamas officials, has been based in Doha, Qatar, due to restrictions on his movement imposed by Egypt regarding entry to and exit from Gaza.

On October 11, former Hamas supremo Khaled Mashal (2014-2017) announced, “(We must) head to the squares and streets of the Arab and Islamic world on Friday…To all scholars who teach jihad…to all who teach and learn, this is a moment for the application (of jihad).”

The Islamic terrorist further appealed to Jordanians, “Tribes of Jordan, sons of Jordan, brothers and sisters of Jordan … This is a moment of truth and the borders are close to you, you all know your responsibility.”

Meanwhile, the casualty count from the Hamas terror attack in Israel has surpassed 1300 according to the latest reports, with over 3,300 individuals sustaining injuries. The majority of those affected are civilians, targeted as Hamas militants unleashed gunfire upon civilian areas near the Gaza border.

Furthermore, Hamas has taken a significant number of individuals captive, holding them as hostages within Gaza. The remains of more than 1500 Hamas extremists have been discovered in Israel and along the border, a result of retaliatory action by Israeli forces.

Hundreds of Hamas militants infiltrated Israel via various means including land, sea, and even paragliders, successfully overwhelming Israel’s Iron Dome missile defence system by launching over 5000 rockets in a mere 20-minute span. In response to the terror attack, Israel has initiated a large-scale offensive against the Gaza Strip, striking numerous Hamas targets.

Additionally, Israel has implemented measures such as cutting off power and water supplies to Gaza, as well as restricting the entry of essential provisions to the coastal strip, which is geographically isolated.

Amidst the fervent cries of ‘Tera mera rishta kya.. la Illaha Illallah,’ students from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organised a procession expressing their dissent against Israel on, October 8. Their protest was in response to the government’s retaliatory measures taken against the Islamist terrorist organisation Hamas, working from the Gaza Strip.

These students carried out processions against the retaliatory action taken by the Israeli government against Hamas. These students, mostly Muslims were chanting Allah-u-Akbar and slogans like tera mera rishta kya la Illaha Illallah, and carrying placards with slogans against Israel and in support of Palestine. One such placard said, ‘AMU stands with Palestine, Free Palestine; this land is Palestine, not Israel’.

Organiser called up the Civil Line police station in-charge Vijay Singh, on October 10. He informed us that the police teams are still identifying the accused from the CCTV footage of the protest, and the named accused in the FIR are not yet arrested. The police only know their names, not their addresses or their parents names. Dedicated action will be taken against them, he added.

A First Information Report (number—643/2023) was registered in this case at the Civil Lines police station on October 9. (More details are attached in this report).
