Controversial YouTuber Manish Kashyap is once again turning heads after the son of Bihar’s famed Kashyap while appearing for a hearing in Patna slammed the incumbent ruling Mahagathbandhan alliance and vowed to be back with all his might.

Appearing in the Patna High Court on Friday, September 22, Kashyap, while taking a dig at the State government, he said “they would try to break me but I would not be scared as I am the son of an army man not of a fodder scammer. My grandfather fought with the Chinese in 1962, while my father fought with the Pakistanis. When they were not scared fighting with the enemies then why should a citizen of the independent Bihar of Independent India should be scared, I am not going to be scared.”

Further while expressing his anguish over his I’ll treatment Kashyap said that ‘I have been quietly attending the hearings since six months but never uttered a word, however today they have troubled me, I have been put up with the druggist who smokes on my face, they have handcuffed an honest man but I promise that one day we will form the government and show how it runs, said further Kashyap while showing his handcuffed hands.

‘Bihar police should arrest those who beat Bihari laborers and put them in Jail, but will Bihar police dare to? A bridge worth Rs 1700 crore collapsed where an engineer and a Yadav got died, another Yadav died in Samastipur, a Yadav contractor was killed in Motihari, Tejaswi Yadav talks about caste, why he is not helping them. Look what M K Stalin’s son Udhyanidhi has said, why NSA has not been invoked against him’, said an agitated Kashyap further.

Earlier while meeting with his mother in the court premises an emotional Kashyap who was donning a t-shirt with a quote ” As an extinguished lamp cannot spread light similarly a coward cannot bring revolution” said that “today my mother has tears in her eyes but when I will be out from custody I will wipe the tears of hundred thousands of mothers, I can ensure that I could die but will not scare.”

Who is Manish Kashyap?

Manish Kashyap is a YouTuber from a small town of Bettiah in Bihar who has been at the center of controversies for allegedly obstructing a bank manager of Paras Pakadi branch of State Bank of India. Kashyap also rose to the limelight when he manhandled a BJP MLA Uma Shankar Tiwari in the 2020 state assembly elections.

The YouTuber from North Bihar has a significant following in Bihar for his unique style of reporting on issues pertaining to administration and development works, he is said to be a popular figure among a section of youths who despite of the alleged charges, rallied behind him and raised slogans in his support. Earlier a shutdown call was also given in support of Kashyap with a demand to lodge him in a prison in Bihar instead of Tamil Nadu.

Lodged in Tamil Nadu under NSA

Kashyap had surrendered before the police in the Parsa Pakdi case in which the court had ordered the police to attach his house on March 18. Subsequently Kashyap was also charged with spreading fake news related to alleged violence on people of Bihar in Tamilnadu, following which he was apprehended by the Tamilnadu police and was taken to Madurai.

He had been lodged in the Madurai jail till August and the Tamil Nadu State government had also invoked the National Security Act (NSA) on the YouTuber for purportedly spreading fake videos of violence against Biharis in Tamil Nadu. Earlier the youtuber had also moved to the supreme court for granting him relief by clubbing all 19 FIR against him while also challenging the invocation of NSA against him, however the Apex court had dismissed his plea and observed that ‘one cannot create disquiet in the state while circulating anything.’ However the Apex court granted the liberty to challenge the invocation of the NSA at an appropriate Judicial forum preferably in the high court.

Return to Bihar

Kashyap has been turning heads again ever since he made a comeback in Bihar after the police produced him in a Bettiah court on August 07, 2023. Earlier Kashyap was brought up to Bettiah by the police from Tamilnadu to appear before two separate courts for hearing. He received a rousing welcome at the railway station where hundreds of supporters gathered to welcome him.

Kashyap was first produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in connection with the case pertains to obstructing a bank manager of Paras Pakadi branch of State Bank of India, from discharging his official duty following which he was also produced in a case pertaining to manhandling a BJP MLA Uma Shankar Tiwari in the 2020 state assembly elections.

It was then reported that after producing him in the court the Tamilnadu police then took him to Patna Beur jail where he was allowed to lodge for a night after initially refusing a stay by the authorities.

Later on, while granting relief to the youtuber, the Patna High Court ruled that the youtuber would stay in Bihar and would appear before the Tamilnadu police via video conferencing if need arises. Citing the court order Kashyap’s lawyer Shivanand Bharti had said that the court ordered that he be kept at Beur Jail.
