A new twist has come up in the case pertaining to the suicide of Asmiya Mol (17) at a Madrassa in Al Aman Campus in Balaramapuram Thiruvananthapuram. Reports suggest that, according to postmortem reports, she underwent sexual abuse. Police have registered a POCSO case against Hashim Khan, a young man belonging to Poonthura.
According to police, the abuse had occurred before she had joined Madrassa. Hashim reportedly told the police that they had only a friendship in between, and he had not done anything wrong. Now, police are investigating to find out if something went wrong when she was in the Madrassa.
We reported the mysterious death of Asmiya Mol a fortnight ago. There were reports that Asmiya Mol had called her mother and asked her to take her home. Even though mother Rahmath reached there in one and a half hours, it was alleged that she was not permitted to see her daughter. Later on, the family members were informed that Asmiya Mol had committed suicide. After the tragedy, Asmiya’s family members reportedly raised allegations against Al Aman Charitable Trust. They alleged that the mental torture she underwent there led to her suicide. Then comes the shocking news.
Severe criticisms were raised by Asmiya Mol’s family against Al Aman. They had accused that an Ustad, and a teacher had mentally tortured her. There are reports that just after the death of Asmiya Mol, police had forwarded a letter to the District Collector, which stated that the Madrassa did not have the approval to function. The institution was not approved by the Education Department or social welfare department. It did not have approval for maintaining a hostel or other educational institutions. It was followed by strong demand to investigate which department had approved the Madrassa’s functioning.
