Despite the bad environment and worldwide issues such as high prices and the most significant negative element – the Ukraine-Russia war, the engineering sector in Gujarat is growing. Between April and December of 2022, the Indian engineering industry has recorded exports totaling $69 billion. This is a 7% increase from the prior year.
The demand for the equipment has also increased. With this, Gujarat has contributed 36% rise to the engineering exports of India. According to Sachin Patel, EEPC member for the region, “the international and domestic demand for chemical plant gear has remained robust. Last year, demand from Russia soared because Russian clients stopped purchasing from Europe and shifted all their purchases to India.
Patel stated, “On both the foreign and domestic markets, demand for chemical plant machinery, textile gear, and pharmaceutical machinery has remained robust. Russian purchasers have ceased purchasing from Europe and have shifted all of their purchases to India, resulting in a rise in demand from Russia last year.”
Gujarat is currently the leading state in the engineering sector. In addition to serving as machinery for industries such as autos, textiles, and chemicals, the enterprises also function as machinery suppliers. In addition, there is a supply of CNC machines, boilers, and brass parts.
According to EEPC, between April and December 2021, Indian engineering exports were $64 billion and increased by 7.8% to $64 billion between April and December 2022. However, December shipments decreased by around 3 percent.
