Assam Satradhikar holds AIUDF MLAs responsible for the rise of jihadi activities in Assam

Guwahati: The rise of Jihadi activity in Assam is being supported by Badaruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF and their MLAs, alleged Satradhikar Mahesh Goswami, head of Aadhar Vaishnavite Satra. Mahesh Goswami appealed to the Union and state government to keep an eye on the AIUDF MLAs as few of the minority-based party leaders are opposing the recent police actions against the jihadi modules in the state. Another Vaishnavite pandit and Satradhikar of Auniati Grihashramee Satra, Janardan Goswami appeal to the Hindu youth to form a task force against the jihadi activities in the state. Goswami alleged that religious madrassas are the breeding ground of jihadi activities. When the committee of Satradhikars of Assam met the then Union home minister Rajnath Singh in 2018, it demanded an immediate ban on the private madrassas in the state. Auniati added that the jihadi activity will continue in the state till the last madrassa is not sealed. It should be mentioned that Assam police on Thursday busted a jihadi module based in two religious madrassas in Morigaon district and arrested the mastermind Mufti Mustafa who was running the jihadi network with the financial help of Bangladesh-based terrorist outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) which has direct linkage with Al Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). Police arrested 12 jihadis linked with these terrorist organisations. Meanwhile, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that several religious madrassas are on the radar of Assam police for their involvement in jihadi activities. Action will be taken soon against these religious madrassas, the CM added.
