Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday attended Garib Kalyan Sammelan in Sivasagar, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted virtually with the beneficiaries of government schemes and distributed sanction letters to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi.

Synchronizing with the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence, PM Modi addressed the beneficiaries at a program held in Shimla. Its objective was to assess how these schemes have brought about ease of living for the citizens. The interaction with the beneficiaries essentially highlighted the impact of schemes like housing, availability of potable water, food, health & nutrition, livelihood and financial inclusion, etc on people.

Speaking on occasion, Sarma commented that the government wants all sections of the people to be adequately served so that no one stays out of the reach of welfare measures. He requested the farmers to take full benefits of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. He added that the government has both the resources and intensity to bring more beneficiaries under the ambit of this flagship program. Sarma also disbursed the first instalment of the PMAY initiative to five lakh beneficiaries and urged them to make good use of the amount.
