The Modi government works on the mantra of 3Cs: Country, Constitution and Common Man, said B. L. Santhosh. He spoke on the occasion of the launch of the book 'Modi 2.0: A Resolve to Secure India' in Delhi on Thursday (December 2).
The Modi government has brought about a drastic change in the mindset of people, which is driven by the idea of Nation First, said BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santhosh.
The 'assurance' was missing in the previous governments and leaders. In the last seven years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's work has brought back that sense of 'assurance' in the government.
In the same building (India International Center) and at the same time, former Union minister Manish Tewari's book was also launched. In his book "10 Flashpoints, 20 years", Tewari had disclosed UPA's lack of response after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
Referring to it, Santhosh said, "Today is a very special day for all of us. In the same building a book is being launched on a disaster that was and a disaster management that is this government. What adds value to this book is the immense accomplishment of the contributors and editors. In modern times the sense of assurance was diminishing, these 7 years have brought that sense of assurance in the leader and the system. The potential that was not realised in 70-75 years has been unleashed in 7 years."
Recalling one of the meetings after Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sworn-in, Santhosh said, "I don't know what I can achieve or deliver in the next 5 years, because achievement requires support and effort of many people. But I can assure you that I will work in a way that none of you will have to bend your head while asking for votes next time. He made us proud."
The book "Modi 2.0: A Resolve to Secure India" has been edited by Ranjit Pachnanda, Bibek Debroy, Anirban Ganguly and Uttam Kumar Sinha. It has 17 chapters that deal with different aspects of the security of the country and the steps taken by the Modi government to strengthen it.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Anirban Ganguly, Director, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation, said, "The era of nuclear blackmail, the era of helpless protests devoid of strong retaliatory action, era of empty philosophising on India's national security imperatives is decisively behind us." Ganguly also recalled that infamous statement of then Defence Minister A K Antony about the border infrastructure.
On September 6, 2013, on the floor of the House, Antony had said that for decades after Independence, it was India's policy not to develop the border infrastructure.
Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, in a debate in the Parliament, had said, "A nation must be physically and adequately armed before it can proclaim and defend its moral doctrine." Ganguly recalled this visionary statement of Mookerjee.
The Narendra Modi government, on August 5, 2019, scrapped Article 370 of the Constitution. This article had granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. The erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir was reorganised as union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Ranjit Pachnanda, former DG Indo Tibetan Border Police Force, praised the Modi government's decision of scrapping Article 370. He said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed not just the Tasveer but also Takdir of the people of the valley." He also complimented the prime minister for visiting troops in the forward areas.
Dr. Bibek Debroy, Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, said, "A sound and aggressive defence strategy is an absolutely necessary part of India's reform agenda. Strategies to counter insurgency on our national borders and police reform are essential for maintaining the momentum in development."
