The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, headed by senior Congress leader and former union minister Anand Sharma, praised the Yogi Adityanath Government of Uttar Pradesh for taking steps to check violence against women and ensuring women's empowerment.

It also said other states should follow the Uttar Pradesh model.

The panel noted, “The committee appreciates the initiatives, like interlinking of various departments and creation of a single-window system to help women victims of violence, taken by the state Government of Uttar Pradesh. The committee, therefore, recommends that other states should also establish such synergy and coordination amongst various departments concerned with the safety and security of women and children.”

Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has established ‘One Stop Centre’ in all the districts of the state for women suffering from violence, including domestic violence. So far, around 1,04,859 women have benefited from these centres. In ‘One Stop Centre’, complainants are provided services like police assistance, medical treatment, legal aid, psychological counselling and temporary shelter.
