Many Twitter celebrities have tweeted fake news about the Ghaziabad incident but Twitter has not designated one of them as ‘Manipulated Media’.

Many Twitter celebrities tweeted fake news about the Ghaziabad incident. But, even after 36 hours since the Uttar Pradesh Police busted the claims, Twitter has neither deleted the fake tweets nor designated them ‘Manipulated Media’.

Swara Bhaskar tweeted she had watched the video where Abdul Samad Saifi could be seen heckled to chant Jai Shri Ram.

She tweeted, “RW & Sanghis vomiting on my timeline ‘coz Ghaziabad police named 3 Muslims. Jackasses the prime accused is literally a Pravesh Gujjar. The man is on camera forcing the old man to chant #JaiShriRam

Yes,
it is a desecration of my God and my religion and I’m ashamed.. as shud you be.”

There is no video that has a reference to Jai Shri Ram.

But, Twitter has still not designated it ‘Manipulated Media’.

But, Swara is not alone. There are many who have tweeted fake news about the incident. But, Twitter has not taken action against any of them.

Earlier, Twitter has designated one tweet of BJP leader Sambit Patra as ‘Manipulated Media’. The tweet was about the Congress Toolkit.

Even after the Congress party accepted that it was created by its social media wing and circulated, Twitter kept the tag.

It raises many questions about the intentions of Twitter and its neutrality as a medium.

Congress spokesperson Shama Mohammed tweeted on June 14, “Abdul Samad Saifi, an elderly Muslim man, was attacked & forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in Ghaziabad. 'They hit me so much that I could not bear the pain. They brought a pair of scissors and cut off my beard", he said. BJP is back to 'divide & rule for upcoming UP elections!”

This tweet has not been designated ‘Manipulated Media’.

Tweet by another Congress leader Maskoor Usmani has not been tagged ‘Manipulated Media’.

He tweeted on June 14, “A Muslim man, Abdul Samad Saifi was attacked & forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in Ghaziabad. They hit him so much that he couldn't bear the pain. "They brought a pair of scissors and cut off his beard".

This is the security provided by the Indian government to its largest Minorities.”
