The US President Joe Biden Thursday said Israel had the right to self-defence.

It was interpreted as the US approval for the Israeli action against terrorist organisation Hamas.

President Biden said, “Israel has the right to defend itself when thousands of rockets are fired in its territory.”

Hamas and other terrorist organisations have fired more than a thousand rockets in Israel since Monday.

Earlier, former US President Donald Trump has asked President Biden to stand solidly behind Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has assured Israelis that the government would do everything to protect its citizens.

An Indian nurse, Soumya Santhosh, was also killed in the terror attack by Hamas.
She was 31.
