The Chief of the World Health Organisation, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, asked for a deeper study into the origin of the Corona virus to understand the pandemic better.

A group of experts had visited China in January to study the origin of the virus. But the expert team was denied access by the Chinese authorities to the original data and samples.

The WHO released the report Tuesday.

There were some theories doing the round that the virus originated in a laboratory in Wuhan in China.

Former CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield last week lent credence to this theory by expressing his personal opinion that he too believed the Corona virus originated in a Chinese lab.

China has been presenting itself as a victim of Corona virus and has been saying that the virus came to it from some foreign country. But, China has not offered any evidence for it.

The authorities in China also stopped the visiting WHO team from inspecting places in Wuhan, the place from where the virus is believed to have originated.

The virus has killed nearly 30 lakh people worldwide. It brought the global economy to a near halt.

The virus first came to the global light in December 2019. But some experts have expressed doubt over the timing also. They believe the virus was spreading in September-October in 2019.
