NCPCR Orders Netflix to Stop Streaming of Web Series Bombay Begums

Taking cognisance of sexually explicit material in web series Bombay Begums, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights ordered the streaming platform to discontinue its streaming immediately.
The web series has scenes showing children in casual sex and consuming drugs.
The Commission has noted in its order that it “…does not allow representing, portraying and glorifying children in India in such a manner on any media platform/internet/OTTs, etc.”
Pooja Bhatt starrer web series is directed by Alankrita Srivastava.
The Commission also noted that “…the series with this type of content will not only pollute the young minds of the children, and may also result in abuse and exploitation of children at the hands of the perpetrator(s)/offender(s).”
The six-part web series started streaming on the OTT platform Netflix this week only.
Many people started voicing their objections about the show on social media.
There are multiple scenes in the series insulting Bhagwad Geeta. Many social media users also expressed their anger about the Anti-Hindu content of the series.
