A diamond trader from Surat in Gujarat, Govindbhai Dholakia on Friday has made a contribution of Rs 11 crore for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The diamond trader, Govindbhai Dholakia, made the donation at a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) office. The VHP and RSS members will begin the collection of donations for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya from today.
The owner of Ramakrishna Diamond, Govindbhai Dholakia has been associated with the RSS for years. Dholakia was also involved in the initiative in 1992. On Friday, he donated Rs 11 crore for the construction of the temple.
Govindbhai Dholakia is not alone to support the cause from Gujarat. One Mahesh Kabootarwala of Surat has donated Rs 5 crore, Loveji Badshah has made the contribution of Rs 1 crore for the construction of the Ram temple. There are several traders in Gujarat who have donated Rs 5 to 21 lakh. Bharatiya Janata Party’s Gordhan Zadaphia and treasurer Surendra Patel had recently donated Rs 5 lakh each for the Ram temple.
Speaking to ANI, VHP’s Alok Kumar said President Ram Nath Kovind made the first contribution towards the construction of Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya, today. “He is the first citizen of the country so we went to him to initiate this drive. He donated a sum of Rs 5,01,000,” Alok Kumar said.
