AIMIM MP and former NDTV journalist Imtiyaz Jaleel on Wednesday has threatened the Maharashtra government that Muslims will open the Mosques from September 2nd to perform Namaz and if not allowed, they would do Namaz on the roads.
In a video the Aurangabad MP says in Marathi that he would offer prayers in a Mosque here on September 2 but if the Maharashtra government fails to provide the permission, which have been shut due to COVID-19 pandemic, by next Tuesday, he would do Namaz on roads.
He also told PTI that there was no logic in the Shiv Sena-led state government’s insistence on keeping religious places shut any longer. If the government fails to open these places from September 1, I will offer prayers in a Mosque at Shahgunj in Aurangabad on September 2 and on the roads if Mosques are not allowed to open, he threatened.
Maharastra remains the most COVID19 affected state in the country with cases increaseing everyday. On Wednesday, the state detected 14,888 new infections, takings its tally to 7,18,711, including 1,72,873 patients under treatment, 5,22,427 who have recovered and 23,089 deaths.
Given its failure to stem the rise in cases, the Maharashtra government has postpones all MPSC exams in the state. It has also decided to extend the lockdown of religious places till further notice.
