Shakeel Khan (left) arrested for the rape of a minor dalit girl is reportedly an activist of the AIMIM
Shakeel Khan, reportedly an activist of Asaduddin Owaisi’s party the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), has been arrested by the Chaderghat police in Hyderabad for raping a minor Dalit girl as reported on May 6th. The accused has been charged under various sections of IPC, POCSO Act the SCs STs (POA) Act and has been presented in court by the police.
It has been reported that Shakeel Khan is a resident of Kamal Nagar and an active AIMIM worker of Malakpet constituency. He had lured the minor dalit girl who resided in the same area and committed the crime. The accused then threatened the girl not to report it to anyone. However, the girl informed her guardians who then complained to the police. They have also provided the girls birth cirtificate which shows that she is a minor.
Chaderghat police immediately filed a case and nabbed Shakeel Khan. This was confrimed by DCP East Zone Hyderabad M Ramesh IPS on Twitter. Official response from AIMIM or party President Asaduddin Owaisi is awaited.
